What is Hypnobirthing?
Pregnancy is a life-changing event within a woman’s life and undoubtedly one of the most amazing experiences. However in today’s society we are conditioned to believe that birth should be painful, so many women fear labour. But no other natural bodily function is painful and childbirth should not be an exception.
Hypnobirthing is training for childbirth. It makes a difference to a woman’s experience of giving birth and gives her the tools to give baby the best start in life.
You will learn about the procedures that are routine in hospital and your alternatives so you and your partner can make informed decisions with confidence, knowing what is best for you and your baby.
Hypnobirthing works with the mind in a positive way to release away any misconceptions you may have about your birth. We will work with the use of words, as Rudyard Kipling famously said “Words are, of course, the most powerful drug to mankind”, they have the power to destroy or heal. When talking about how the mind works, the analogy has been used that the mind is like an iceberg. The conscious mind the brain, is like the part you can see above the surface of the water. It is large and powerful and should be treated with great respect and we are hugely privileged to have this amazing tool. But underneath the water is the far larger part of the iceberg and this part is the unconscious mind. This part is far larger, far more powerful and should be treated with even greater respect.
I help expectant mothers and birthing partners who need the right support to have a safer, comfortable, easier and positive birthing experience. I will help you relax and get in touch with your natural ability to give birth in a safe environment, making it a calm, fulfilling experience. Hypnobirthing will increase your chances of feeling in control, having a drug free and a more satisfying birth. It changes and empowers both the mother and father and has the most profound effect on baby which will last a lifetime.
“ I have been present at Hypnobirthing births and seen how in control the women are, and how also the partners are a lot calmer and able to help, and what a difference it really does make to the start of parenthood for them” – Midwife
